"CHILD AND ART" FUNDATION was estabilished to continue the children's workshops which have been run by the artist Barbara Szydelska since 1965 in Warsaw. Visitors at the exibitions in Poland and abroad alike were astonished by unusual pieces of art. This experience convinced Barbara Szydelska of the necessity to collect and present the works, as an obligation toward the culture, and most of all convinced her to run the centre, which would unite the children's workshops and the Museum of Children's Art. The idea was introduced by the group of little artists' parents and the artists, who love children and want them to make art part of children's daily life. Since 1991 the Foundation has reneted from Polish Army Forces the part of an old, historical fort in the St.Żeromski Park in Warsaw. The children and the youngs moved to the fort with all collections of their works. At present the Foundation works with about 100 children and youngs from all Warsaw. In many cases it is the second generation working with us in our workshop.
